Monument of Cambodian-Vietnamese Friendship in Preah Sihanouk Province Inaugurated

AKP, July 22, 2017 –Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdei Say Chhum, President of the Senate of Cambodia, and H.E. Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, presided over the inauguration ceremony of the Monument of Cambodian-Vietnamese Friendship in Preah Sihanouk province this morning.

Samdech Chaufea Veang Kong Sam Ol, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Royal Palace, and H.E. Mrs. Men Sam An, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Assembly-Senate Relations and Inspection, as well as Preah Sihanouk provincial authorities, civil servants, armed forces, students and residents were also present on the occasion.

Addressing to the event, Samdech Say Chhum and H.E. Nguyen Phu Trong lauded the long-lasting solidarity, friendship and cooperation between the two neighbouring nations.

H.E. Nguyen Phu Trong said the Monument of Cambodian-Vietnamese Friendship is a “precious symbol of Cambodia-Vietnam solidarity on this prosperous land of Angkor.”

According to Samdech Say Chhum, there are in total 17 Monuments of Cambodian-Vietnamese Friendship across the Kingdom, 12 of which have been so far renovated. Of the restored ones, 7 have been inaugurated, including the one in Preah Sihanouk province. The 8th Monument in Battambang province will be inaugurated on July 27, 2017.

Cambodia and Vietnam established their diplomatic ties on June 24, 1967.
