Phnom Penh, May 06, 2019 –Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen held here at the Peace Palace this morning an annual discussion with UN agencies in Cambodia led by Ms. Pauline Tamesis, UN Resident Coordinator.
According to H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Assistant to the Cambodian Premier, the meeting touched on three important points, including social protection, data of sustainable development, and participation in the review of national report on implementation of sustainable development goals.
The UN side raised their comments related to the three points while the Cambodian competent ministries made their clarification.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen highlighted the Royal Government of Cambodia’s efforts to boost social protection, such as assisting pregnant civil servants and factory workers as well as poor pregnant women, reducing utility fees, water well digging, and so on.
Concerning data of sustainable development, the Prime Minister hoped to increase the budget and encouraged capacity building on this affair.
For the last point, Samdech Techo Hun Sen affirmed Cambodia’s readiness to attend a meeting to review national reports on implementation of sustainable development goals in New York in July this year.
Ms. Pauline Tamesis expressed her congratulations to the achievements obtained under the cooperation between the UN agencies and the Royal Government of Cambodia in the past year.
This was the fifth consecutive year that the Royal Government of Cambodia holds such discussion with the UN agencies in the country.
