Cambodian PM Leads a Delegation to Attend the Funeral of Former Vietnamese President

Phnom Penh, May 02, 2019 –Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has led a high-level delegation to attend the funeral of H.E. Gen. Le Duc Anh, former President of Vietnam.

The Cambodian delegation was seen off at Phnom Penh International Airport this afternoon​ by Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Hor Namhong and many other senior government officials.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Vu Quang Minh was also present on the occasion.

Late H.E. Le Duc Anh was the fourth President of Vietnam from 1992 to 1997 and also a Vietnamese General who led the Vietnamese forces to overthrow the Khmer Rouge’s genocidal regime on Jan. 7, 1979.

H.E. Gen. Le Duc Anh passed away on April 22, 2019 in Hanoi at the age of 99.

As the President of the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), Samdech Techo Hun Sen has sent a letter of sympathy to H.E. Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee.

In the letter, the CPP president expressed deep sorrow at hearing the news about the death of the late Vietnamese president, who had greatly contributed to the national construction and development of Vietnam.
