PM Hun Sen: The Visit of Nepalese PM Opens New Page of Cambodia-Nepal Relations

Phnom Penh, May 13, 2019 –Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has regarded the visit of Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, the Rt. Hon’ble K. P. Sharma Oli in Cambodia is the opening of new page of both countries’ relations and cooperation.

H.E. Kao Kim Hourn, Delegate Minister Attached to the Cambodian Prime Minister told this to reporters after the bilateral meeting between the two leaders in Phnom Penh yesterday evening.

According to the delegate minister, in the bilateral talks, Samdech Techo Hun Sen suggested the strengthening of cooperation in the areas of economy, investment, tourism and culture, particularly the fields with mutual interest, as well as the establishment of air connectivity between the two countries, and the exchange of intellectuals and students in the future.

For his part, the Rt. Hon’ble K. P. Sharma Oli agreed with the Cambodian Premier’s suggestion, adding that he wanted to see the expansion of bilateral cooperation at all levels and in all fields.

The visiting Nepalese leader also suggested the opening of consulate, as they have not had embassy in each other’s country yet and the establishment of direct flight between Cambodia and Nepal.

After their meeting, the two leaders witnessed the signing ceremony of two documents: the framework agreement on trade and investment and the memorandum of understanding on bilateral cooperation between Cambodia Chamber of Commerce and Nepal Chamber of Commerce.

In November last year, Samdech Techo Hun Sen paid his first-ever visit to Nepal, during which both nations reached four cooperation deals, including the agreement on visa exemption for diplomatic and official passport holders, agreement on air transport, memorandum of understanding on consultations between both countries’ Ministries of Foreign Affairs in the fields of politics and economy, and memorandum of understanding on cultural cooperation. by C.
