ASEAN Observer Team Visits Agreed Boundary Pillar No. 72 in Koh Kong

The Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia, wishes to inform the public as well as members of national and international media as follows:

On Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at 08:37 a.m., the Cambodian Liaison Group (CLG) coordinated a field visit for the ASEAN Observer Team in Cambodia (AOT-KH), led by the Head of Mission (AOT KH HOM) from the Philippines in conducting an observation, verification, and reporting at Boundary Pillar No. 72 (Agreed Boundary Pillar) located in Cham Yeam Village, Pak Khlang Commune, Mondol Seima District, Koh Kong Province.

This observation mission aims to provide the ASEAN Observer Team with a comprehensive and direct understanding of the situation at the agreed boundary pillars between Cambodia and Thailand, as well as to demonstrate the stance of the Royal Government of Cambodia, which consistently adheres to resolving border issues peacefully through dialogue and bilateral mechanisms, in accordance with international law, existing bilateral agreements, and the mandate of the Joint Boundary Commission (JBC).

Cambodia maintains an unyielding and firm position in safeguarding the international boundary line between Cambodia and Thailand, inherited from the Commission of Delimitation of the Boundary between Indo-China and Siam, in full and strict respect of international law principles, the principle of the inviolability of frontier (Uti PossidetisJuris), the Franco-Siamese Conventions and Treaties, the Protocol concerning the delimitation of the boundary, Maps which are the result of the demarcation works of the  Commissions of Delimitation of the boundary between Indo-China and Siam, the Procès-Verbaux of the meeting and Procès-Verbaux of Abornement of the Commissions between Indo-China and Siam, the MOU 2000, the TOR 2003, as well as relevant agreements and documents previously agreed upon by both parties to resolve disputes peacefully and achieve long-lasting peace between our two countries.
