Samdech Techo Hun Sen Cambodian Prime Minister Holds Bilateral Talks with Norwegian Counterpart

AKP Phnom Penh, October 20, 2018 —Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and his Norwegian counterpart H.E. Ms. Erna Solberg held a bilateral meeting yesterday, on the sidelines of the 12th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Summit in Brussels, Belgium.

According to Samdech Techo Prime Minister’s official Facebook page, H.E. Ms. Erna Solberg expressed Norway’s strong will to assist Cambodia, especially to render justice to the victims of the Khmer Rouge genocidal regime.

She also highlighted Norway’s assistance on mine and UXO clearance in Cambodia as well as her country’s initiative to have a convention on official prohibition of landmine use.

The Norwegian leader thanked Cambodia for its support to Norway’s candidacy as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2021-2022.

In reply, the Cambodian Premier expressed his gratitude to Norway for its assistance to Cambodia, mainly its active contribution to the development, mine clearance and the Khmer Rouge Tribunal process.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen voiced his full support to the initiative on convention on official prohibition of landmine use, adding that Cambodia will continue to clear all landmines from the country and to take part actively in mine clearance activities in other countries, particularly in Africa.

Besides, the bilateral meeting touched upon maritime environment. Samdech Techo Hun Sen affirmed that Cambodia can be a partner in many important initiatives related to marine environment.
