On the afternoon of 9 June 2026, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, paid a courtesy call on and held talks with His Excellency To Lam, President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam and General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam. The meeting took place during the Prime Minister’s official visit to and participation in the 3rd ASEAN Future Forum, held in the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam on 8–9 June 2026.
During the meeting, the Vietnamese President highly commended Cambodia’s rapid socio-economic development and the remarkable progress achieved across all sectors. At the same time, His Excellency the President recalled the fruitful outcomes of his State Visit to Cambodia and his participation in the summit of the political parties held in Cambodia in early February 2026. He also reaffirmed his support for the continued strengthening and expansion of Cambodia–Viet Nam relations, as well as closer cooperation among Cambodia, Laos, and Viet Nam, and expressed his commitment to continuing to work together within regional and international frameworks to contribute to the maintenance of peace and security.
In response, Samdech Thipadei congratulated Viet Nam on the successful organisation of the highly significant 3rd ASEAN Future Forum amid a rapidly evolving global context. He also expressed his satisfaction with and high appreciation for the steady progress of the traditional relations between Cambodia and Viet Nam, despite global uncertainties and rapid changes. In this regard, Samdech Thipadei reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to further enhancing cooperation within both the Cambodia–Viet Nam bilateral framework and the Cambodia–Laos–Viet Nam cooperation framework for the mutual benefit of the peoples of the three countries.
Samdech Thipadei and the Vietnamese President also exchanged views on further strengthening and expanding cooperation in key sectors, including the economy, trade, security, defence, and people-to-people connectivity, particularly among the youth.
