Speaking on the occasion, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said today is another record of the iron-clad friedship between Cambodia and China. He profoundly thanked the Chinese government for the support for the national stadium’s construction.

H.E. Wang Yi said that the newly-constructed stadium reflects the strong relationship between the two countries, and expressed his hope that Cambodia’s athletes will win more medals when Cambodia hosts the SEA Games in 2023.

According to H.E. Dr. Thong Khon, the construction of this historic sports facility in the country was made possible through a grant assistance of US$160 million from the Chinese government – thanks to the blossoming friendship between the two countries profoundly treasured by the Royal Government of Cambodia under the leadership of Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen.

Surpassing 16.22 hectares of land area in Sangkat Prek Tasek, Khan Chroy Changvar of Phnom Penh capital, with the construction areas of about 82,400 square metres, the Cambodia’s biggest sports ground can accommodate up to 60,000 spectators. By C. Nika
