On the afternoon of 16 October 2026, Samdech Moha Borvor ThipadeiHUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, held a bilateral meeting with His Excellency Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Türkiye, on the occasion of Samdech Thipadei’s working visitto Istanbul, Türkiye.
During the meeting, the President of Türkiye warmly welcomed Samdech Thipadei and the Cambodian delegation and extended fraternal hospitality to them. He expressed his pleasure at meeting with Samdech Thipadei, noting that the meeting reflected the longstanding relations between Cambodia and Türkiye and opened a new chapter in bilateral ties.
In response, Samdech Thipadei expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and spoke highly of Türkiye’s impressive development and its important role in promoting regional and international peace and stability. He also expressed his firm belief that the working visit would give new momentum to the longstanding friendship between the two countries and further deepen bilateral cooperation across a broader range of areas of mutual interest, following the historic visit by Samdech Techo HUN Sen, former Prime Minister of Cambodia, eight years ago.
Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the fruitful cooperation between the two countries and held extensive discussions on further strengthening bilateral relations across key sectors, including politics, security and defence, trade and investment, private-sector partnerships, development cooperation through the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), and people-to-people connectivity through tourism, education, cultural exchanges, and direct flights between Istanbul and Phnom Penh. They also exchanged views on international frameworks for promoting peace, stability, and sustainable development, as well as respect for international law and the principles enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations.
Following the bilateral meeting, Samdech Thipadei and His Excellency Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Türkiye, co-presided over the signing ceremony of the Military Framework Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Türkiye and the Royal Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
