Cambodian PM Wishes to Host a Reception for Westerdam Cruise Ship’s Passengers

Phnom Penh, February 17, 2020 —​ Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen expressed his intention to host a reception for the passengers on the Westerdam Cruise Ship to show Cambodia’s true love, warm hospitality and humanitarian heart.

According to a Facebook post this evening, Samdech Techo Hun Sen shared his intention while presiding over here this morning the annual meeting of the Cambodian National Council for Women.

The Prime Minister will also invite relevant foreign diplomats accredited to Cambodia to attend the reception.

After thorough health checking on all passengers, the Royal Government of Cambodia has permitted some 500 passengers to stay temporary at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel awaiting their flights back home.

At the same time, Samdech Techo Hun Sen suggested the municipal authorities to cooperate with the Ministry of Health and other concerned institutions to prepare the transportation for them for sightseeing in the capital city better to let them stay bored in the hotel room.

The Cambodian leader added that if any nation whose citizens were on the ship does not care, Cambodia will look after them until they can return to their respective homeland.

On Feb. 14, 2020, Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen went to welcome more than 100 passengers who were the first group to disembark the Westerdam cruise ship at Sihanoukville Autonomous Port, before their return to their homeland.
