Cambodia Exports Goods and Services to 147 Countries

Phnom Penh, December 15, 2019 –Cambodia has so far exported goods and services to 147 countries which are members of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) with the price of about 60 percent of GDP.

The information was shared by Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, while presiding over the opening ceremony of the 14th Cambodian and Import-Export Goods Exhibition 2019, held here at Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Centre this afternoon.

Cambodia has diversified both the products and the markets in which the Cambodian export increased from US$5.7 billion (or 40.5 percent of GDP) in 2012 to US$13 billion (or 53.2 percent of GDP) in 2018 and has gradually diversified the export of garment to other products, he added.

According to the Premier, Cambodia’s main export targets are the U.S., the European Union, Japan, China, Korea, ASEAN region and other countries.

On the other hand, the Kingdom has imported goods and services to fulfill the economic needs from 135 countries with the price of about 65 percent of the GDP in the past years, which enlarges the size of the international trade to US$30,374 million in 2018, he said.

“Trade has played an important role in generating jobs for the people and to help promote the national economy which enables more and more goods to be exported to the international markets, which greatly contributes to the GDP growth,” underlined the Prime Minister.
