Cambodian PM Receives the Vietnamese Permanent Deputy Prime Minister

Phnom Penh, December 13, 2019 –Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, held talks here this morning at the Peace Palace with visiting Permanent Deputy Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam H.E. Truong Hoa Binh.

According to H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Assistant to the Cambodian Premier, in the courtesy meeting, both sides lauded the development in each other’s country and expressed their satisfaction with the good relations and cooperation between the two neighbouring countries.

H.E. Truong Hoa Binh conveyed regards from the Vietnamese leaders to Samdech Techo Hun Sen and invited the latter to pay an official visit to Vietnam. He also briefed him on the outcome of his meeting with H.E. Mrs. Men Sam An, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Assembly-Senate Realtions and Inspection of Cambodia.

In reply, Samdech Techo Hun Sen accepted the invitation to visit Vietnam in an appropriate time and welcomed the outcome of the talks between H.E. Truong Hoa Binh and H.E. Mrs. Men Sam An.

The Prime Minister encouraged both sides to further boost their cooperation, especially to facilitate trade along the common border. For bilateral trade, he said that the volume could already exceed the US$5 billion set by the two countries for 2020.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen congratulated Vietnam on its hosting of ASEAN Summit and its non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council next year. He also told his guest of the ASEM Summit to be organised by Cambodia in 2020, stressing that the two countries should cooperate and support mutually for the success of the meetings both in Vietnam and Cambodia.
