Phnom Penh, December 04, 2019 –A senior official of Cambodia encouraged here this morning the International Association of Francophone Mayors (AIMF) to be a multilateral mechanism for the sustainable development of its members.
H.E. Hor Namhong, Deputy Prime Minister, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, made the encouragement when presiding over the official opening ceremony of the 39th AIMF General Assembly, on behalf of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
“I think it is an appropriate time to promote the cooperation in the association (AIMF) by transforming this platform into a unified network that will add value to the French-speaking nations. It is necessary for all the cities to work together to achieve the values and goals of the AIMF,” he underlined.
H.E. Hor Namhong also suggested AIMF to have training programme for the “future leaders of AIMF” so that they know well the basic principles of identity of AIMF in order to create an AIMF family of solidarity and harmonisation and to make AIMF and Francophony an “area of peace, fraternity, and sustainable development”.
