41st Founding Anniversary of Solidarity Front for Development of Cambodian Motherland Commemorated

Phnom Penh, December 02, 2019 –Cambodian people gathered here this morning at Chaktomuk Conference Hall to commemorate the 41st founding anniversary of the Solidarity Front for the Development of Cambodian Motherland (SFDCM).

The annual celebration took place under the presidency by Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly and President of SFDCM.

Addressing to the ceremony, Samdech Heng Samrin, one of the key founders of SFDCM, said this is a national historical event of Cambodia.

SFDCM was formerly known as the Kampuchean United Front for National Salvation. It was established on Dec. 2, 1978 in Snuol district, Kratie province to topple the Khmer Rouge regime.

After the country’s liberation from the genocidal regime on Jan. 7, 1979, the Cambodian people faced a lot of obstacles. On the one hand, they rebuilt the country and on the other hand, they prevented the return of the genocidal regime, and now they live in peace, harmony, freedom and development, said Samdech Heng Samrin.

“This is the pride and prestige that all Cambodians have made after the historical day of Dec. 2, 1978,” he underlined.

Samdech Heng Samrin called on all young members of the front to uphold the spirit of solidarity, internal unity, and to do their best to serve the country in conformity with the political agenda of the Royal Government of Cambodia.
