President of Hungary Reaffirms Support for Cambodia on EBA Issue

 Phnom Penh, October 28, 2019 –Visiting President of Hungary H.E. János Áder has reaffirmed his support for Cambodia and will request the European Union not to withdraw the ‘Everything But Arms’ (EBA) preferential trade scheme from Cambodia.

 

H.E. János Áder reiterated Hungary’s support during his meeting here at the Peace Palace this afternoon with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, according to H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Assistant to the Premier.

In the meeting, H.E. János Áder also said Hungary will dispatch Hungarian experts to help Cambodia study clean water and waste management problem in Phnom Penh to boost Cambodia’s long-term development as well as improve public health and human resources.

For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen thanked H.E. János Áder for what he has mentioned earlier, adding that this is their third meeting in only six months, which reconnects and strengthens the relationship between Cambodia and Hungary that has already turned more than 60.

Samdech Techo Prime Minister briefed his guest on Cambodia’s peace-building process, and the current full peace, stability and strong economic growth of over 7 percent in the past more than 20 years.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his gratitude to Hungary for its support for Techo 100 Model Village project, mine clearance activities in Cambodia and scholarship provision for 15 Cambodians a year.
