Phnom Penh, October 24, 2019 –His Majesty the King of Cambodia, Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, arrived home this evening, after attending the Coronation Ceremony of His Majesty Naruhito as the Emperor of Japan.
The Cambodian monarch was welcomed upon his arrival at Phnom Penh International Airport by Senate President Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdei Say Chhum, National Assembly President Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, and Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen as well as many other senior officials, and royal family members.
Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia H.E. Mikami Masahiro was also present on the occasion.
While in Tokyo, apart from the Coronation Ceremony of His Majesty Naruhito as the Emperor of Japan, His Majesty the King of Cambodia grants a royal audience to Prime Minister of Japan H.E. Abe Shinzo, during which the latter reaffirmed Japan’s full support to the development of Cambodia.
Besides, His Majesty the King also attended a Tea Party hosted by Their Imperial Majesties, Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako of Japan, at the Imperial Palace.
His Majesty Naruhito, 59, ascended to the Chrysanthemum Throne on May 1, 2019, after the abdication of his father, His Majesty Akihito, 85, after three decades of his reign.
