Cambodia, U.S. to Continue Their Cooperation in All Domains

Phnom Penh, October 23, 2019 –Cambodia and the U.S. will continue strengthening and expanding their cooperation in all fields, especially in finding American soldiers’ remains and in voluntary activities of Peace Corps in the Kingdom.

The agreement was reached during the courtesy meeting between Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and newly appointed U.S. Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. W. Patrick Murphy, at the Peace Palace, Phnom Penh this afternoon, according to H.E. Kao Kim Hourn, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen highly valued the diplomatic mission of H.E. W. Patrick Murphy in Cambodia and encouraged the new diplomat to increase the cooperation at the international level as well, particularly under the UN and ASEAN-U.S. frameworks.

Cambodia will become the Chair of ASEAN in 2022, therefore the country wants to see more good cooperation between ASEAN and the U.S., he added.

In the meeting, both sides also agreed to hold various events to mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of both countries’ diplomatic ties next year.
