Cambodian, Vietnamese Leaders Reaffirm Commitment to Further Boost Cooperation

Phnom Penh, October 04, 2019 –Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and his Vietnamese counterpart H.E. Nguyen Xuan Phuc have reaffirmed their commitment to continue fostering the cooperation between the two nations, according to TVK special correspondent.

The commitment was made during the bilateral retreat and summit between the two leaders, held after the arrival of the Cambodian high-level delegation in Hanoi, Viet Nam this morning.

In a six-page joint statement reached by both sides, the Heads of Government of Cambodia and Vietnam agreed to deepen political relations through visit exchange programme, to boost economic cooperation, trade and investment, transportation connectivity, to strengthen people-to-people exchange, and so on.

Both sides spoke highly of the existing bilateral trade exchange and expected that this year the two-way trade will increase to more than US$5 billion. They also touched upon the progress on land boundary demarcation between the two countries which had already completed 84 percent of the work.

At the end of this morning programme, before lunch, senior officials of both countries signed seven agreements and memorandums of understanding covering the areas of bilateral trade promotion, border trade infrastructure development and connectivity, customs, drug rehabilitation, electricity … under the witness of the two Prime Ministers.
