Prime Minister of Malaysia Starts Three-day Official Visit in Cambodia

Phnom Penh, September 02, 2019 –H.E. Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, Prime Minister of Malaysia, and spouse began their three-day official visit in Cambodia this morning.

They arrived at Phnom Penh International Airport at around 10:00 am and were warmly welcomed upon their arrival by H.E. Othman Hassan, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister and Secretary of State for Labour and Vocational Training as well as many other senior government officials.

According to a press release of the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, during the visit from Sept. 2 to 4, H.E. Prime Minister of Malaysia will pay separate courtesy calls on Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdei Say Chhum, Acting Head of State of the Kingdom of Cambodia and Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly.

H.E. Dr. Mahathir Mohamad will hold a bilateral meeting with Samdech Techo Prime Minister Hun Sen during which various aspects of bilateral cooperation will be discussed. The two Leaders will also exchange views on regional and international matters of common interest. Thereafter, the two Prime Ministers will preside over the signing ceremony of a number of documents and hold a joint press announcement.

While staying in Phnom Penh, H.E. Prime Minister of Malaysia will lay wreathes at the Independence Monument and pay tribute at the Royal Memorial Statue of His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Norodom Sihanouk “Preah Borom Ratanak Kaudh”, the Late King-Father of Cambodia.

The official visit of H.E. Dr. Mahathir Mohamad to Cambodia will significantly contribute to further strengthening and deepening the excellent bonds of friendship and close cooperation between Cambodia and Malaysia in bilateral, regional and international frameworks.
