Phnom Penh, August 26, 2019 –Social welfare of Cambodians will further improve, according to a Senior Official of World Health Organisation (WHO).
H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Assistant to the Cambodian Premier, shared the observation underlined by Regional Director for the Western Pacific of WHO Mr. Takeshi Kasai when paying his courtesy call to Cambodian Premier Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen here at the Peace Palace this morning.
Mr. Takeshi Kasai also highlighted his optimism that Cambodia will be able to address communicable diseases through prevention and treatment and promote mental health and well-being of Cambodians as per the Kingdom’s commitment in the National Sustainable Development Goals.
The observations of the WHO regional director, continued the source, grounded on his team’s follow up of the trends since 2000.
For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen warmly welcomed Mr. Takeshi Kasai and congratulated him on his new role with WHO, and looked forward to further cooperation with the organisation.
The Premier shared his guest about Cambodia’s National Health Programme to end malaria by 2025 and the country’s endeavour to achieve smoke-free status
He also highlighted government’s measures to promote the child and maternal health, and social welfare for the women.
