Outgoing German Ambassador Bids Cambodian PM Farewell

Phnom Penh, June 19, 2019 –Outgoing Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany H.E. Ingo Karsten paid here this morning a farewell visit to Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen.

According to H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Assistant to the Cambodian Premier, during the farewell meeting, the outgoing German diplomat expressed his delight for having fulfilled his diplomatic mission in Cambodia. He also noted remarkable progress in the Kingdom in recent years, especially in the economic, social and political sectors, and he was happy to witness this development.

H.E. Ingo Karsten lauded Cambodia’s recent reform in the areas of investment and trade, which, he said, has attracted many German investors to do business in the country.

For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen thanked the German ambassador for the comments, stressing that Cambodia’s achievements were resulted from two main strategies, i.e. transformation of former battlefields into development and market areas, and transformation of border areas into a border of peace, friendship, development and cooperation with all neighbouring countries.

Samdech Techo Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the German government and people for their assistance to Cambodia, particularly in mine clearance, rural development, culture and other domains.

The Premier also requested the German side to continue supporting Cambodia, especially in mine clearance and ASEAN Regional Mine Action Centre (ARMAC) in Cambodia.
