Phnom Penh, June 14, 2019 –Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen of the Kingdom of Cambodia paid a courtesy visit to Speaker of the National Assembly (NA) of Hungary H.E. Laszlo Kover, in Budapest, Hungary yesterday.
According to H.E. Kao Kim Hourn, Delegate Minister Attached to Cambodian Prime Minister, in the courtesy meeting, the Cambodian Premier spoke highly of the good relationship between both countries, which will turn 65 in 2021, stressing that the two sides agreed to establish an embassy in each other’s country to mark the event.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen said his visit was aimed to continue the existing cooperation between Cambodia and Hungary and mainly to strengthen the trade, economic and tourism ties.
At the same time, Samdech Techo Prime Minister suggested a memorandum of understanding between the Cambodian and Hungarian NAs and invited H.E. Laszlo Kover to pay another visit to Cambodia as well as to attend the Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership Meeting in 2020 when the Kingdom hosts the ASEM Summit.
For his part, the Hungarian NA speaker thanked the Cambodian side for the invitation and for the creation of Cambodian-European NA mechanism, as well as for the strengthening of cooperation between both countries and NAs.
H.E. Laszlo Kover wanted the European Union to do justice to Cambodia in terms of Everything But Arms (EBA) scheme. He also affirmed that Hungary will continue to provide scholarships for Cambodian students to pursue their studies in this European country.
