Prime Minister Hun Sen Highlights Two Key Factors for Cambodia’s Economic Growth

Phnom Penh, May 30, 2019 –Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has highlighted two important factors for the country’s high economic growth and sustainable development.

While meeting with Mr. Naotoshi Okada, President and CEO of Nikkei Inc., in Tokyo, Japan this morning, prior to the 25th International Conference on the Future of Asia, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said the two main factors are peace and political stability, and macroeconomic stability.

They are interdependent; therefore it is indispensable to maintain peace, political and macroeconomic stability, underlined Samdech Techo Hun Sen, adding that the next step is good governance to boost development.

The Premier said Cambodia’s development cannot be dissociated from Japan’s support and the country still needs Japan’s assistance to further boost its development. He hoped to see more and continued Japanese investments in Cambodia.

For his part, Mr. Naotoshi Okada lauded Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s strategies for economic reform, which has brought about progress to Cambodia.

Following on the same day, Samdech Techo Prime Minister also received Nobuyoshi Fujisawa, President and Chief Executive Officer of J Trust Bank of Japan and H.E. Yoshihisa Kainuma, President and Chief Executive Officer of Minebea Mitsumi Inc.
