Cambodia Reaffirms to Have Friendly Relations with All Countries

 Phnom Penh, May 30, 2019 –Cambodia does not want to take any country as enemy, reaffirmed Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen while meeting with H.E. Takahashi Fumiaki, President of Japan-Cambodia Association in Tokyo, Japan yesterday afternoon, on the sidelines of the 25th International Conference on the Future of Asia.

 

“Cambodia wants to be friends with all the countries, including the U.S., but we need to defend our independence and sovereignty,” underlined the Cambodian Premier.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen requested H.E. Takahashi Fumiaki to forward this good will to the U.S., denying the comments that Cambodia turns away from the U.S. and embraces China.

Samdech Techo Prime Minister arrived in Japan on May 28 to attend the 25th International Conference on the Future of Asia and a series of events until May 31.

Yesterday, besides meeting with H.E. Takahashi Fumiaki, also former Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia, Samdech Techo Hun Sen held separate talks with Mr. Nobuhiko Sasaki, new CEO of Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO); Mr. Seiji Imai, Senior Managing Executive Officer and Manager of Global Corporate Company in Mizuho Financial Group; Professor Yoshiaki Ishizawa of Sophia Asia Centre for Research and Human Development; and H.E. Ken Matsuzawa, President of the International Friendship Exchange Council of Japan.

Moreover, the Cambodian leader delivered a keynote address at a Seminar on Investment in Cambodia organised by the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) in collaboration with JETRO and Mizuho Bank.
