Cambodian, Vietnamese NAs To Strengthen Bilateral and Multilateral Cooperation

Phnom Penh, May 29, 2019 –The National Assemblies (NAs) of Cambodia and Vietnam have been committed to continue tightening and expanding their cooperation, both at the bilateral and multilateral levels.

According to the General Secretariat of Cambodian NA, the commitment was made by Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly (NA) of Cambodia, and his Vietnamese counterpart H.E. Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, during their meeting in Hanoi, Vietnam yesterday afternoon.

Both legislative leaders also spoke highly of the progress of the two neighbouring countries and of the cooperation, experience sharing and mutual support between the two NAs at all levels.

Samdech Heng Samrin and H.E. Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan informed each other of the recent, current and future activities of their respective institutions and pushed for other activities of common interest such as the visit exchange between young parliamentarians, women parliamentarians, experience exchange between specialised NA commissions, regular organisation of annual conference of Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam NA commissions on economy, foreign affairs, national defence, and so on.

After the meeting, Samdech Heng Samrin and H.E. Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan reached a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two NAs and witnessed the signing ceremony of a MoU on cooperation between both NA General Secretariats inked by H.E. Leng Peng Long, Secretary General of Cambodia NA and H.E. Nguyen Hanh Phuc, General Secretary and Chairman of the Vietnamese NA Office.

A high-level Cambodian parliamentary delegation led by Samdech Heng Samrin and his spouse arrived in Hanoi on May 28 for a three-day official visit in Vietnam.
