Phnom Penh, April 29, 2019 –H.E. Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, State Counsellor of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, started here this afternoon her three-day official visit in the Kingdom of Cambodia.
The Myanmar leader was warmly welcomed upon her arrival at Phnom Penh International Airport by Minister of Women’s Affairs H.E. Mrs. Ing Kantha Phavi and many other high-ranking officials of the Royal Government of Cambodia.
The first visit of H.E. Daw Aung San Suu Kyi in Cambodia was made at the invitation of Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen.
According to a press release of the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, during her stay in Cambodia from April 29 to May 1, H.E. Daw Aung San Suu Kyi will have separate audiences with His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, and Her Majesty Queen-Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk at the Royal Palace.
H.E. Daw Aung San Suu Kyi will also pay subsequent courtesy calls on Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdei Say Chhum, President of the Senate, and Samdech Akka Moha Sena Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly, and hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen.
The Myanmar state counsellor will lay wreaths at the Independence Monument and the Monument of Preah Borom Ratanak Kaudh, the Late King-Father of Cambodia. At the conclusion of the trip, she will visit temples in Siem Reap province.
H.E. Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s official visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia will further strengthen and expand the bilateral bond of friendship and cooperation in all areas as well as within the ASEAN and multilateral framework. By Khan Sophirom
