Cambodian PM Receives Chinese Senior Official from Yunnan

Phnom Penh, March 27, 2019 –Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received here this morning visiting Secretary of Yunnan Provincial Party Committee of the Communist Party of China H.E. Chen Hao.

According to H.E. Kao Kim Hourn, Delegate Minister Attached to the Prime Minister, in the courtesy meeting, H.E. Chen Hao briefed the Cambodian Premier on the outcome of his meeting with Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and his Siem Reap trip, as well as on the progress of Yunnan province.

He also laid stress on the cooperation between Yunnan and Cambodia, mainly in the fields of education, culture, tourism and health, and Yunnan investments with a total capital of US$1,000 million in the Kingdom

H.E. Chen Hao pledged to further encourage more Yunnan investors to Cambodia, to continue providing more scholarships for Cambodian students, and to speed up the construction of a new international airport in Siem Reap province. Moreover, he suggested cooperation in film making and the exchange of visit between Cambodian and Yunnan top leaders.

For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed warm welcome to the first visit of H.E. Chen Hao in Cambodia and recalled his two previous visits to Yunnan. He further asked the Chinese side to convince more investors from Yunnan to invest in Cambodia, especially under the “One Belt, One Road” Initiative.

Currently, the bilateral trade between Cambodia and Yunnan reached more than US$6 billion.
