Phnom Penh, March 04, 2019 –Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has once again called on his compatriots to cooperate with the census officers in the ongoing general population census 2019.
While presiding over the groundbreaking ceremony of the Project for Flood Protection and Drainage Improvement in Phnom Penh Capital Phase IV this morning, Samdech Techo Hun Sen appealed to the citizens to take part in providing accurate information, stressing that census is not about politics.
“Our objective is to get true information on the total population and their living condition for a better preparation of the country’s development strategic plan,” the Premier underlined.
Meanwhile, he advised all census agents to keep confidential the data of each citizen in accordance with the stated regulations.
Sometimes, the census officers may come to collect the information at night as some citizens are busy during daytime, said Samdech Techo Hun Sen, calling on the media to disseminate information about this census broadly.
Cambodia has been conducting the general population census from Mar. 3-13, 2019. This is the third national census which would cost about US$8.5 million, according to the Ministry of Planning. The first one was organised in 1998 and the second in 2008.
