hnom Penh, January 23, 2019 –Cambodia-China relations will continue to be maintained in all domains and at all levels for the interests of both countries.
The remarks were made by H.E. Li Zhanshu, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, while meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen in Beijing, China yesterday afternoon, according to H.E. Kao Kim Hourn, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister.
Cambodia and China are true friends in all circumstances, and China will continue its support to the economic development of Cambodia, he added.
H.E. Li Zhanshu highly valued Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s leadership, under which, he said, Cambodia has seen rapid economic progress and the bilateral relations with China have been tightened and expanded.
For his part, the Cambodian Premier laid stress on special characteristics of Cambodia-China ties thanks to their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Cooperation. They have achieved more than their set target, he said, pointing out that in 2017, the two-way trade already surpassed the target of US$5 billion by 2020 to nearly US$7 billion, and the number of Chinese visitors to Cambodia reached 1.9 million last year, more than half a million higher than the set target.
Moreover, he underlined, the number of Chinese investors in Cambodia is beyond expectation thanks to their trust on the leadership of both nations’ leaders.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen invited H.E. Li Zhanshu to pay a visit to Cambodia at his convenient time, and the latter accepted the invitation.
