PM Hun Sen Attends Cambodia-China Trade and Investment Promotion Forum

Phnom Penh, January 22, 2019 –Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen attended in Beijing, China this morning the Cambodia-China Trade and Investment Promotion Forum 2019, as part of his four-day official visit in China since Jan. 20.

The event was also attended by Chinese Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Hu Chunhua, Vice Minister of Commerce and Chairperson of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade H.E. Ms. Gao Yan and 700 Cambodian and Chinese high-ranking officials and businessmen, reported the National Television of Kampuchea (TVK).

In his keynote address, Samdech Techo Hun Sen highly appreciated the Ministries of Commerce of Cambodia and China, and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade for co-organising this important forum when the two countries have just celebrated the 60th anniversary of their diplomatic relations.

Samdech Techo Prime Minister also reaffirmed Cambodia’s full support to the “One Belt, One Road” initiated by Chinese President H.E. Xi Jinping to enhance connectivity and cooperation among partner countries to promote trade, investment, tourism and growth for mutual benefits.

Moreover, the Cambodian Premier highlighted the fruitful cooperation between Cambodia and China, pointing out that the two-way trade reached US$6 billion in 2017 and is expected to rise to US$10 billion by 2023.

China took the lead in terms of investment capital in Cambodia, with some US$3.6 billion in 2018 or 53 percent of the total investment capital in the Kingdom, he added.

Besides, Samdech Techo Hun Sen shared with the forum successes and achievements obtained by Cambodia after gaining full peace in 1998 and the country’s vision until 2050, development strategies and policies, and in-depth reform programmes.
