Phnom Penh, January 14, 2019 –Visiting H.E. Ms. Pany Yathotou, President of the National Assembly (NA) of Lao PDR, paid a courtesy call on Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of NA of Cambodia, in Siem Reap provincial city this morning, on the sidelines of the 27th Annual Meeting of Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF-27).
According to a news release, H.E. Ms. Pany Yathotou spoke highly of remarkable progress of Cambodia which is a clear reflection of the right and capable leadership of the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) that has won a landslide victory at the recent national election.
The Lao NA president strongly supported the substance of the MoU signed and proposed expanding cooperation between the two legislative bodies from the leadership to the specialised commission levels, especially organising joint seminars to exchange views and good experience. She also proposed the Governments of the two countries to continue elevate cooperation on trade into new heights.
Taking the opportunity, H.E. Ms. Pany Yathotou congratulated the Cambodian parliament on the smooth organisation of the APPF-27.
For his side, Samdech Heng Samrin expressed his commendation to the Lao NA for successfully hosting the 17th Meeting of the APPF in 2009, which has significantly contributed to the enhancement of the effective role of this regional forum towards the realisation of common vision for the sake of peace, stability and prosperity.
Both sides expressed satisfaction over, and are proud of the continued smooth cooperation between the two legislative bodies which have always supported each other in the international forums, both in the region and the world.
After the bilateral meeting, the two NA presidents signed the Memorandum of Understanding to further deepen cooperation in years ahead.
