Phnom Penh, December 15, 2018 –The Sea Festival 2018 was officially opened this evening in Koh Kong province under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and his spouse Samdech Kittiprittbandit Bun Rany Hun Sen.

This is the 2nd round that Kong Kong hosts the Sea Festival organised this year under the theme “Beautiful Bay, Happy Citizen” with the slogan “Eco-tourism for Green Growth and Sustainable Development”.

This annual tourism event will help promote Cambodia’s bay into a qualified tourism destination, which will contribute to generating more income, jobs, alleviating poverty, and boosting sustainable development, said the Cambodian Premier.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen called on relevant ministries and institutions, authorities at all levels, and development partners to actively take part in developing and preserving the coastal areas of Cambodia for tourism sustainability.

Different sports competitions – triathlon, wrestling, Khmer boxing, sailing, jet-ski … – as well as sport parade, trade fair, concert, art performances and so on are organised to cheer up the Sea Festival, the 7th of its kind.

Sea Festival is held since 2011 on a rotating basis in the four coastal provinces of Cambodia, including Preah Sihanouk, Kep, Koh Kong and Kampot.

Stretching in the length of 450 kilometres in the four provinces, Cambodia’s coastline was recognised as a world most beautiful bay in May 2011.
