AKP Phnom Penh, November 14, 2018 —Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has laid stress on the importance of the relations and cooperation between ASEAN and Australia.
The Cambodian Premier highlighted the point in his speech at the ASEAN-Australia Informal Breakfast Summit held in Singapore this morning and attended by the ASEAN leaders and Prime Minister of Australia H.E. Scott Morrison, according to Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s official Facebook page.
Samdech Techo Prime Minister also stressed the need to boost the economic and trade ties as well as connectivity in all domains between both sides.
Last year, the two-way trade between ASEAN and Australia reached US$59 billion, a year-on-year increase of more than 11.7 percent, while Australian direct investment in ASEAN rose by 33.4 percent.
The ASEAN leaders welcomed the expansion of Australia’s New Colombo Plan in all the ASEAN member countries in order to further enhance people-to-people connectivity by supporting Australian undergraduates to study and undertake internships in the region.
