AKP Phnom Penh, June 11, 2018 —Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received here this afternoon at the Peace Palace a courtesy call from visiting Minister of Defence of the Republic of India H.E. Ms. Shrimati Nirmala Sitharaman.
According to H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Assistant to the Cambodian Premier, H.E. Ms. Shrimati Nirmala Sitharaman recalled Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s visit to India early this year which further boosted the relations between the two countries.
She also told the Prime Minister of her visit in Cambodia, the purpose of which, she said, is to push for the fruitful implementation of the agreements already signed by both sides.
H.E. Ms. Shrimati Nirmala Sitharaman affirmed that India will provide some mine detection dogs for Cambodia in contribution to the country’s mine clearance efforts, and suggested close cooperation between Cambodian and Indian blue helmet troops.
In reply, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said India has recognised Cambodia even before the Kingdom got its independence and was among the first countries to acknowledge Cambodia following the collapse of the Khmer Rouge genocidal regime.
The Cambodian Premier thanked India for its contribution to the peace-seeking process in Cambodia and for its plan to provide mine detection dogs for the Kingdom.
Regarding the cooperation between blue helmet troops, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said India has a lot of experience and information, therefore sharing those experience and information help reducing risks for both countries’ troops.
