AKP Phnom Penh, April 30, 2018 – Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has expressed his sincere congratulations to the outcome of the Inter-Korean Summit 2018 and shared some comments over the possible U.S.-North Korean Summit.
Addressing to the graduation ceremony of nearly 2,000 students of the Human Resources University, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said the current international tension was eased after the Inter-Korean Summit on April 27, 2018.
The Cambodian Premier welcomed the declaration of the Inter-Korean Summit on peace and prosperity without nuclear weapons in the Korean Peninsula.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen said that the outcome of the Inter-Korean Summit will further contribute to the possible U.S.-North Korean Summit in the near future, but no one can forecast the result of this summit because the U.S. could urge North Korea to give up its nuclear weapons while the latter would propose the U.S to end its military bases in South Korea.
“These two conditions may be impossible as the U.S. military bases have existed in South Korea for more than 55 years, and the North Korea may not stop its nuclear programme,” he explained.
According to the BBC, U.S. President H.E. Donald Trump has mentioned that talks with North Korea could take place “over the next three or four weeks”, but did not tell where.
Related to this Inter-Korean Summit, the ASEAN leaders at their 32nd Summit held in Singapore recently also hailed the outcome of this summit.
