AKP Phnom Penh, February 20, 2018 –Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, held talks here this morning with United Nations Agencies’ Representatives in Cambodia led by UN Resident Coordinator Ms. Claire Van der Vaeren.
H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Assistant to the Cambodian premier told reporters after the meeting held at the Peace Palace that Ms. Claire Van der Vaeren expressed thanks to the Royal Government of Cambodia for its continued contribution to the peacekeeping missions under the UN umbrella.
The UN resident coordinator spoke highly of Cambodia’s achievements in response to millennium development goals, as well as its in-depth reform programme, a key foundation for the sustainable development of the country, and affirmed the UN’s commitment to continue its support and strengthen its partnership with Cambodia.
Ms. Claire Van der Vaeren also briefed Samdech Techo Hun Sen on the progress of UN agencies in Cambodia last year, especially their contribution to the fields of human resource development, environment, agriculture, mine clearance, education, health (malaria and HIV/AIDS), good governance, and so on.
For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen highly appreciated the UN’s efforts and contribution to the development of Cambodia.
The meeting also touched on the elaboration of sustainable development goals as well as youth-related issues such as training and employment, and social protection.
