AKP Phnom Penh, December 12, 2017 –Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, reaffirmed this morning the role of the armed forces in defending the nation and people.
According to his official Facebook page, while presiding over the inauguration ceremony of achievements of Intelligence Training Building in Khan Prek Pnov, Phnom Penh, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said the political parties have no legal right to command the armed forces, except the government.
The army is the state’s tool, but not that of any political parties, therefore there is no neutrality between the army and the royal government and the political parties, he underlined.
“I don’t give commands to the army in the name of a political party’s head, but as the Prime Minister. There is no ‘neutrality’ word between the royal government and the political parties […],” he said.
On the occasion, the Cambodian premier also encouraged the army to further continue paying high attention to terrorism, colour revolution, and national defence. “The army is the people’s faithful servants […] no armed forces have been successful without support from the people,” stressed Samdech Techo Hun Sen.
