Acting Head of State Hun Sen has reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to maintaining the ceasefire with Thailand and resolving the border issue peacefully to restore normalcy in bilateral relations.
The reaffirmation was made during his meeting with a delegation from the Parliamentary Federation for World Peace (PFWP) Malaysia, led by its Chairman, Datuk Wira Mohd Hatta Bin Md Ramli, at the Senate Palace in Phnom Penh yesterday.
Hun Sen expressed his gratitude to Malaysia, particularly Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, for his swift and proactive role in mediating the Cambodia-Thailand border issue.
For his part, Datuk Wira Mohd Hatta Bin Md Ramli, who is also a Senator, thanked Hun Sen for providing a clear and comprehensive explanation of both the historical and current aspects of the border dispute. He voiced hope that the conflict would be resolved peacefully and that lasting peace would prevail between the two neighbouring nations.
The PFWP Malaysia Chairman also praised Cambodia’s progress and development, noting his impression upon arriving at the Kingdom’s new and spacious Techo International Airport, which he said reflects Cambodia’s remarkable advancement. AKP
