In addition, she underscored her commitment to further strengthening and expanding relations between the two countries.
In response, Samdech Borvor Thipadei welcomed the Congresswoman and her delegation to Cambodia, highlighting that their visit would further boost relations and cooperation between Cambodia and the US. He stressed that Cambodia’s economic growth is a result of its enduring peace and stability. He also conveyed Cambodia’s gratitude to President Donald J. Trump for his swift facilitation of a ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand, which saved many lives. This nomination serves as a token of gratitude for President Trump’s personal dedication to initiating and securing the ceasefire.
Additionally, Samdech Borvor Thipadei thanked the US government for its decision to reduce the import tariff rate on Cambodian goods to 19%, effective 1 August 2025. He also highlighted the Royal Government of Cambodia’s key policies and reforms, such as streamlining investment registration procedures, establishing the Government-Private Sector Forum (G-PSF) to address the challenges of the private sector, implementing practical investment policies, and offering various incentive packages to attract more foreign investors.
Samdech Borvor Thipadei and Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne also discussed strengthening and expanding cooperation in key areas between the two countries, including security and national defence, the fight against transnational crime, and the repatriation of Cambodian citizens from the US to Cambodia. The Samdech Borvor Thipadei also briefed the delegation on the progress of the Cambodia-Thailand border situation, including the implementation of the ceasefire, with the aim of restoring relations between the two countries.
