AKP, August 04, 2017 –Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen held here yesterday at the Peace Palace a get-together with a group of Cambodian athletes and their coaches before their departure for the 29th SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The premier encouraged the athletes to do their best to bring more success to the nation, stressing that success does not depend on rich or poor, big or small countries, but on the athletes’ competence and commitment.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen also recommended the athletes not to use any prohibited substances and to respect well the sport regulations and discipline.
According to H.E. Hang Chuon Naron, Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, Cambodia will take part in 24 sports games during the 29th SEA Games to be held from Aug. 19 to 31, 2017. Those 24 sports events include Taekwondo (WTF), pétanque, chinlone, tennis, Khmer martial art, wushu, football, athletics, gymnastics, basketball, table tennis, badminton, cycling, fencing, golf, boxing, ice skating, sailing, triathlon, rugby, volleyball, equestrian, swimming, and karate.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Hun Sen gave the 274 athletes and coaches US$500 each.
SEA Games or the Southeast Asian Games in a biennial multi-sport event participated by the ASEAN member countries.
