Vietnam Funds Construction of Cambodian National Assembly’s Office Building

AKP, July 20, 2017 – The National Assembly (NA) of Cambodia and Vietnam signed here this afternoon a memorandum of understanding on Vietnam’s donation of US$25 million for the construction of an office building of the Cambodian NA.

The signing ceremony was held under the witness of Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the Cambodian NA, and visiting General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) H.E. Nguyen Phu Trong, following their talks.

According to press release of the NA’s General Secretariat, in the meeting, both sides spoke highly of the good ties of friendship and cooperation between the two neighbouring nations.

Samdech Heng Samrin expressed his gratitude to the Party, State, Government and people of Vietnam for their assistance to Cambodia’s national liberation in the past and current development process.

H.E. Nguyen Phu Trong arrived in Phnom Penh this morning for a three-day state visit in Cambodia. After his arrival, he was received in separate royal audiences by His Majesty Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia and Her Majesty the Queen-Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk. Besides, he met with Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdei Say Chhum, President of the Senate, and Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

H.E. Nguyen Phu Trong’s visit was made at the time when the two countries celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations.
