Phnom Penh, March 09, 2020 –As Covid-19 is hitting the world, the Head of the Royal Government of Cambodia called on the public to trust local health practitioners.

“If you fell ill because of Covid-19, please seek health services and trust our medical practitioners in the country,” Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen said while presiding over the inauguration ceremony of National Road No. 55 and the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of National Road No. 10, held in Veal Veng district, Pursat province this morning.

“Everybody will not be able to access medical services or assistance from Thailand or Vietnam or other countries if you’re infected with Covid-19. Only local health services and medical practitioners can help you, therefore please trust them,” he underlined.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also reaffirmed the country’s health capacities and facilities as well as the Royal Government’s intervention in response to the spread of Covid-19 epidemic. He once again appealed to the public not to fear the virus too much, but to pay attention to self-protection and self-sanitation.

As the prices of face masks soar from one day to another, the Premier who wore Krama – Khmer hand-woven scarf – on his neck in the function – called all people to use Krama like him to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen announced to wear Krama instead of Western tie during the outbreak of Covid-19.
