Phnom Penh, February 18, 2020 — Visiting President of Holland America Line, the operator of Westerdam cruise ship, Mr. Orlando Ashford has paid a courtesy visit to Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
During the meeting taking place here at the Peace Palace this afternoon, Mr. Orlando Ashford expressed his deep thanks to Samdech Techo Hun Sen and the Cambodian authorities and people for their warm hospitality and humanitarian heart as well as for their kind permission to Westerdam to dock at Sihanoukville Autonomous Port, according to H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Assistant to the Cambodian Premier.
In reply, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his delight to see that the passengers on the Westerdam cruise ship are all safe and healthy during their trip back home.
The Prime Minister underlined this is the humanitarian commitment of the Royal Government and people of Cambodia.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen also highly appreciated Holland America Line for its attention and care toward the passengers and the good cooperation between the passengers, crewmembers and Cambodian local authorities.
Westerdam with more than 2,200 multinational tourists and crewmembers on board have been turned away by four nations and two islands amid COVID-19 fears, but it could dock at Sihanoukville Autonomous Port in Preah Sihanouk province on Feb. 13 at the authorisation of Cambodian authorities.
