Cambodian PM Meets Former UN Secretary-General

Phnom Penh, February 05, 2020 –Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen met with H.E. Ban Ki-moon, Former Secretary-General of the United Nations, in Seoul yesterday afternoon, during the former’s stay in the Republic of Korea (ROK) for the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) World Summit 2020.

According to H.E. Kao Kim Hourn, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister, during the meeting, Samdech Techo Hun Sen and H.E. Ban Ki-moon recalled Cambodia-UN cooperation, including Khmer Rouge Tribunal, UN peacekeeping operations, as well as the bilateral relations and cooperation between Cambodia and ROK since H.E. Ban Ki-moon was a foreign minister of ROK.

H.E. Ban Ki-moon, current President of Global Green Growth Institute, sought Cambodia’s contribution in promoting peace in the Korean Peninsula as the Kingdom is an active member of ASEAN and will host the 13th ASEM Summit later this year. He also asked Cambodia to continue supporting the use of sustainable energy, particularly green energy.

For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen confirmed his participation in a meeting on green growth to be held in ROK in June this year, and requested the Global Green Growth Institute to dispatch its experts to assist Cambodia in achieving soon its green economy.
