Phnom Penh, February 04, 2020 –Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, shared some of his insights on the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) World Summit 2020’s theme “Peace, Security and Human Development” in Seoul, the Republic of Korea this morning.
First, he said, it is important to continue promoting multilateralism system and rules-based international order in order to further strengthen and expand cooperation so as to ensure full peace, security, safety and stability by boosting close dialogue, trust building, as well as peaceful resolutions of regional issues based on the principles of international law.
For the second point, Samdech Techo Hun Sen encouraged the culture of interfaith dialogue to build mutual understanding, respect, trust and tolerance, and the adherence to the principle of non-interference in other countries’ internal affairs.
Third, he continued, it is necessary to strengthen cooperation in continuing to promote globalisation to ensure that the cooperation mechanism maintains an open spirit and supports multilateral trading systems, especially accelerates our social and economic connectivity to advance the development agenda of each country and to achieve the sustainable and inclusive growth.
On the last point, the Cambodian Premier called for promotion of development through People-centric Approach, particularly in social welfare system development and reinforcement such as education quality enhancement, living condition improvement, poverty alleviation, and development gap minimisation in accordance with the rapid and unceasingly progress of socio-economic structure.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his high appreciation to the UPF World Summit 2020, stressing that it is an important forum providing a rare opportunity for leaders from all milieus – governmental and non-governmental – to discuss and exchange views on regional and global developments in order to contribute to finding solutions to the common challenges so as to maintain peace, security and sustainability of human development for the world.
