Phnom Penh, October 23, 2019 –Japan will continue supporting the development of Cambodia as well as boosting cooperation in the fields of politics, economy, culture and other areas.
The commitment was renewed here this morning by newly appointed Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Mikami Masahiro while paying a courtesy call on Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, H.E. Kao Kim Hourn, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister told reporters after the meeting.
Moreover, he added, Japan will continue its assistance to Cambodia, mainly in Japanese investment promotion, mine clearance, power, and deep seaport master plan development.
For his part, the Cambodian Premier expressed warm welcome to the new Japanese diplomat and thanked Japan for its active contribution to the peace-seeking process, reconstruction and development of Cambodia.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen spoke highly of bilateral relations between both countries, which have already reached the level of strategic partnership. He also lauded the direct flights between the two nations, which facilitate the travel of both tourists and investors, and expressed his intention to see more bilateral trade exchange and more Japanese investments in Cambodia.
Besides, the Prime Minister reaffirmed Cambodia’s determination to continue implementing the rule of law in order to strengthen democracy in the country. The priority of Cambodia is to maintain peace while continuing the democratisation process, he underlined.
