PM Hun Sen Receives Cambodian Youth Delegation for 46th SSEAYP

Phnom Penh, October 10, 2019 –Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen received here this afternoon at the Peace Palace a Cambodian youth delegation, before their departure for the 46th Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Programme (SSEAYP).

On the occasion, Samdech Techo Hun Sen briefed the youth delegation on the Royal Government’s national development policies and strategies.

The Premier also informed of the reasons why Cambodia joined the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and advised them to behave well with dignity and to build relations, solidarity, friendship with their counterparts from other ASEAN member countries and Japan.

Miss Sokun Sophakreasey, the Cambodian National Leader said this is the 46th round of the youth programme which will last for 51 days, from Oct. 24 to Dec. 13, and the ship will dock at the ports of five countries, including Japan, Vietnam, Singapore, Myanmar, and Malaysia.

Initiated through a joint statement between Japan and ASEAN founding members in January 1974, the programme is organised by the Cabinet Office of Japan and supported by the governments of Southeast Asia to foster friendship and greater understanding among youths from ASEAN and Japan as well as to promote regional cooperation.

This year’s trip is engaging over 300 youths from ASEAN countries and Japan and the journey promises vibrant discussions on social and youth matters, eye-opening cultural exchanges and engaging sports, recreational and club activities.
