Cambodian PM Urges More Skill and Capacity Building for Search and Rescue Operations

Phnom Penh, June 25, 2019 –The National Committee for Disaster Management has to strengthen more skills for the search and rescue teams and deployed them to all kinds of forces to respond to any emergency rescue operations that would happen eventually.

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen made the remarks while speaking to reporters in Preah Sihanoukville, Preah Sihanouk province yesterday evening.

In the future, we also have to prepare more forces with search and rescue skills in preparation for any eventual disaster, not only building collapse, but also plane crash, ship sinking etc., he underlined.

This idea was initiated after an under-construction seven-floor building collapsed in Preah Sihanoukville early Saturday with 28 deaths and 26 injured.
