Siem Reap June 12, 2019 –Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen shared here this morning some remarks on the Industrial Revolution 4.0.
Addressing the opening of the 16th Asia Media Summit themed “Media Digitalisation – Focusing on Developing Markets” Samdech Techo Hun Sen started with welcoming all national and international participants, stressing that Cambodia is honoured to host the gathering.
The discussions during the summit, he continued, will feed strategy development in information sector amidst the industrial revolution 4.0 so as to mutually benefit from the digital technology and join hands to fight against fake news as well as cyber-crime threatening the region and beyond.
According to Samdech Techo Hun Sen, digitalisation has replaced analog technology bringing about higher quality and efficiency of media products, such as sound and image, and faster data transmission.
While aligning Cambodia’s media sector to fit the emerging global trend, Cambodia also needs to understand the fallouts of the process, and work with other countries to address them.
Digital technology has incorporated telecommunications and broadcasting system creating potential digital information communication as well as universal social media such as Facebook, YouTube, WeChat, Telegram and Twitter, he added.
The platforms enable human networking, trade facilitation and reduction of market barrier, and at the same time allow opportunities of business innovations among entrepreneurs.
He went on that the digital technology has transformed the national management to be digital government by creating digital economy, promoting quality and efficiency of the public services along with accountability and transparency as well as increasing connection of internal and global networks.
Finally, Samdech Techo Hun Sen encouraged a productive discussion during the Asia Media Summit.
Asia Media Summit originated in 2004 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and was held subsequently in Malaysia until 2008.
The sixth round of the meeting was moved to Macau of China in 2009 and then to Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, India and now to Cambodia.
This year, the event attracted the participation of around 600 delegates – including at least 70 professional and experienced panelists and speakers – from 42 countries.
