Phnom Penh, May 30, 2019 –Cambodia and Vietnam highly appreciated their good bilateral relations and cooperation in all fields and at all levels.
During their meeting in Hanoi, Vietnam yesterday afternoon, Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly (NA) of Cambodia, and Vietnamese Prime Minister H.E. Nguyen Xuan Phuc spoke highly of the achievements of the two countries in the border market planting work, which has now reached 84 percent.
Both countries are determined to transform their common border area into a zone of peace, friendship, cooperation, and development.
For the trade sector, the Vietnamese Prime Minister asked the Cambodian NA to help boost the two-way trade to US$5 billion in 2020 as set by the governments of the two neighboring countries.
H.E. Nguyen Xuan Phuc expressed his delight with the progress in the bilateral cooperation between the two NAs, while Samdech Heng Samrin briefed the Vietnamese Premier on his visit to Vietnam, during which the two NAs had signed a memorandum of understanding on further strengthening and expansion of their cooperation, especially between young and women parliamentarians.
On the same day, the Cambodian NA president also met with H.E. Tran Thanh Man, President of Vietnamese Fatherland Front. On the occasion, the two sides discussed the plan to organise a Conference of Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Fronts in Cambodia in 2020.
A high Cambodian parliamentary delegation led by Samdech Heng Samrin and his spouse paid an official visit to Vietnam from May 28 to 30.
